Carpets for Kids' Bedrooms

Back in July, in our blog, Kids and carpets: what to buy and what not, we focused on the best carpets when you have kids. In a nutshell, anything synthetic works best as it can handle any spills and bodily fluids that happen to come into contact with your new carpet. All the carpets below are synthetic. Wool is good and can probably handle more than you think, but put in a ring with multiple kids and the former will lose out after a few rounds.

NOTE: If however, you have well-trained children who don’t wear shoes or take drinks and food upstairs then you may want to consider several wool carpets that appeared in our Striped Carpets blog.

In this month’s blog, we consider the look and feel. In adulthood, we may opt for the grey and beige carpets to allow furniture to come through; childhood, on the other hand, is colourful, vibrant and full of energy – just like their lives. Below is a small selection of carpets designed to inspire. And remember, if you don’t see the colour or the design you’re looking for, then contact us here.

Adam Carpets - Flare Collection (Duck Egg)

We love this carpet by Adam Carpets as it manages to be stylish and fun at the same time. Flare is a combination of a design orientated 'zig-zag' pattern and a collection of vibrant on-trend colours including Jelly Bean (reddy-orange), Limoncello (yellow) and Spearmint.

Cormar Carpets - Apollo Elite (Skyline Steel)

Our suggestion for Cormar Carpets may not be the most vibrant choice, but its natural colours will allow any wigwams to come through. Seriously though, we’ve included this as it’s so hardy that the people at Cormar have put a ten-year stain guarantee on their carpets. Yes, that’s right! So if you choose a Cormar Carpet, you can rest easy even if there is a five-child sleepover happening on the otherside of your bedroom wall.

Lifestyle Floors - Firework (Fizz)

If you and your children are looking for strong colours then Firework by Lifestyle Floors is a great option. Out of the 18 colours available, they have a deep Aeriel blue, a Firecracker red; a green Gleam and a Vibrant pink. Like Cormar, their carpets are also bleached cleanable carpet but is guaranteed to be stain-free for life - which is impressive!

Desso - Palatino Carpet Tiles

Our next choice is a bit unconventional, to say the least, but if you’re looking for colour and durability, then a Desso Palatino carpet tile is a great option. Yes, it’s usually seen in corporate reception areas or in funky co-working offices, but with over 39 colours to choose from, coupled with the ability to create your colour patterns, it would be the most adventurous choice for a bedroom. Given that these tiles are designed for the heaviest of foot traffic will mean this flooring could survive both the younger and teenage years.

Sparkle Carpets

We end our blog with a bit of sparkle. There are carpet companies like Associated Weaver’s Invictus who employ fairies to fly up and down the production line throwing glitter onto the machines below. OK, maybe not, but they do manage to weave in copper and silver fibres to give it that glitter feel. We tried to find a good image of this range, but glitter and sparkle do not translate well on to screen, so the above image is an artists impression of said flooring. We have samples at the shop, however, in all their sparkly glory, so do pop in and take a look.

We hope you’ve found our blog helpful and inspiring. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the above or for any other flooring questions please contact Darrell or Graham at the shop.
